PsychiatryWeb.com is an independent educational website that provides clear, compassionate and evidence-informed information about mental health. We believe everyone deserves to understand what they or their loved ones are going through, in language that is accurate, respectful and free of stigma.

Our mission

To help people recognize mental health conditions, understand their options, and feel confident taking the next step toward support — whether that means talking to a doctor, finding a therapist, or reaching out to a crisis line.

How we create content

  • Content is based on established clinical guidelines and reputable sources such as the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization, NICE and peer-reviewed research.
  • We write in plain language and avoid sensational or stigmatizing descriptions.
  • Pages are reviewed and updated regularly; each page shows when it was last updated.
  • We welcome corrections — please contact us if you spot an error.

What we are not

PsychiatryWeb does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and we cannot respond to personal medical questions or crises. Please see our Medical Disclaimer.
